Forbes second annual entrepreneur editorial contest sponsored by HP kicked off in April. Since then, the Judgment Group has been selected as one of the Top 20 finalists vying for the $100,000 grand prize which will be awarded in December. Contestants submitted 500-word pitch about their small company, which included a description of their business model and an abstract plan for investing the grand prize. The Judgment Group plans to build a proprietary engine which searches Internet sites such as Linkedin, Myspace and match.com to legally locate where debtors bank, work and own property. This in turn, would make it cheaper and easier to ensure justice. The Judgment Group’s proprietary system leverages advances in personal information and technology to harness the power of the legal system and get judgments paid. Targeted direct mailers are sent to those with unpaid judgments and 23 percent convert to clients. In compliance with all laws, The Judgment Group electronically locates where debtors bank, work and own property. Based on existing operations and data providers, 10 percent of judgments are recovered. Sometime in the next 50 years, most debtors will improve financially and the system would ensure judgments are paid with interest.
