The Naysayers Have It

Oftentimes, you discover something that isn't quite what you would expect.  A round world, for example.  People usually don't like to jump on board with new ideas.  The general population is resistant to change, and "what we know" can supercede innovation.

Why don't we have everything in the science fiction films?  Some of it hasn't been invented yet, or other parts of it were only worth imagining, and never worth implementing.  It can be outright frustrating when you present an innovation, and the naysayers tell you how horribly it will fail.  Sure, it could very well fail - but we won't know until we've at least considered it.

Everything is based on assumptions.  I think, therefore I am.  It can be difficult sometimes to operate under assumptions you don't necessarily believe, but it's a skill I've found useful for problem solving, and not to mention it helps with open-mindedness.  I'm not saying I don't have my own set of assumptions or challenge people that try to differ, but from the other side, I don't know why the world doesn't just blindly accept all my ideas ;)
